To begin, home-school is a big help for busy people like myself. There is always something to do other than my school work. In other words, it’s easy to get sidetracked as a home-schooler. Your action packed day can distract you from your important work. On the other hand, there are ways to stay productive even when you feel distant from your priorities.
One, write yourself a checklist. This is the best, and simplest alternative to keep yourself on point. Also, I normally create a checklist every morning, before school. This to-do list has everything from schoolwork, to house chores. In addition, these miniature goals can turn into a habitual part of your day.
Two, having a daily routine. Routines keep your day organized and in order. To add, there are a lot of studies that show that routine reduces stress and anxiety, as well as help you take control of your day and subsequently, your life. However, it’s also helpful to occasionally break your routine every once and awhile, especially because no one’s life is perfect; you will hit bumps along the way, but what is important is to prepare for those low points and know how to bounce right back to your routine. This has definitely aided me through home-school, and kept me diligent in my day.
Three, limit your screen time. This might be the one I agree with the most, because our generation is very dependent on our phones. Not just the phones in general, but the internet. This is an easy distraction from life and the things you need to do. Another reason, you could spend hours mindlessly scrolling and not even notice. I know this because I used to watch way too much YouTube, but I managed to self discipline myself, with some assistance from my mother, I’ve never been more productive.
All in all, it’s easy to get distracted when there’s a lot to do. These three components have helped me elevate my learning experience, and I hope this does the same for you.
